ABOUT

Since 2014, we have worked with youth ages 4-13 to improve their athleticism, academic performance in school, and their positive outlook on life.

  • The mission of the D-Town Steelers’ Youth Sports and Mentorship Organization is to use sports as a gateway for academics and mentorship. We provide youth with an opportunity to participate in football and basketball, cheer, and dance. We also provide free academic tutoring and mentorship for all youth..

  • - Over 80 young men ages 4-13 who participate in little league football and basketball

    - Over 30 young women ages 4-13 who participate in cheer

    - Primarily African American and Latinx students from low-income neighborhoods in the Dallas Area

    - Many of our youth attend the following schools: RC Burleson Elementary , JB Wilmeth Elementary, William Anderson Elementary, Billy E. Dade Middle School, and Kipp DFW.

  • Education: We have after-school tutorial sessions in all subject areas that are available at no charge for each student. Current teachers dedicate their time to helping our students achieve academically. Many of the youth’s grades have improved as a result of the extra assistance provided.

Awards/Recognition: We believe in recognizing the efforts of our youth on and off the field. Each year, we host banquets to recognize our students for their teamwork, attitude improvement, athleticism, and for increases in their grades in school.

Mentorship: Our young men and women receive mentorship from the men and women who work voluntarily with our team. Our young men often meet off of the field to discuss personal issues the youth may be facing. Our young women often meet with the women at local restaurants and other places in the community for mentorship meetings.
